Audio trimmer FAQ

Which audio files can I trim?

Any format decoded by your browser can work. Common formats include MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG and WebM audio.

Why is the output WAV?

PCM WAV can be generated directly and reliably in the browser. MP3 or AAC export requires a separate codec library or server-side conversion.

What does normalization do?

It measures the highest sample in your selection and adjusts gain so the peak reaches approximately −1 dB without intentional clipping.

Does trimming reduce quality?

The selected audio is decoded and written as uncompressed PCM. It avoids additional lossy compression, though it does not restore quality already lost in the source.
